Installing your new car stereo is so simple all you do is take out the old one by just unscrewing all the bolts from the dash if needed and then just pull out the stereo away from the wiring harness. Just be careful when you are putting in your new hardware it will be very easy to hook up the wiring harness the wrong way especially if you are hard wiring it back together.
You will just want to start out by pulling anything away from the dash that is needed when trying to take out the existing stereo that is in your car and even more when you are installing the new stereo.
Head units are the easiest type of CD player to install in a car. You just get a new hole kit at Wal-Mart or advanced if you do you even need one and then just put it in so the head unit will fit and not be sliding around and pulling out when you hit the brakes. You will also probably need a new wiring harness with it.
After you install the head unit you will have to either hard wire the existing wiring harness if you cannot find one for the make of the car or you will have to buy one from a stereo store. Then you just hook the head unit up to the wiring harness and then mount the ground wire and then you are good to go. It is really that simple after you read what I just said and then try and install a new head unit.
If you really want your speakers to sound good with your new head unit you will want to get a highs and mid amp to go along with your head unit and speakers it will make it sound all the better with a new head unit.
When you want to get into bigger and better things you can go to circuit city or best buy and buy yourself some sub woofers and another amp to power those and hook that up and really be doing it big. It is a little bit harder to install but it is the same thing. The only thing that you do different other then installing the head unit is you just run the RCAs to the head unit and run the live wire from the amp to the battery it is that simple. The other things you just wire the speakers to the amp and mount the ground wire for the amp and you're done. All that simple and takes probably under an hour if you are doing a simple car to trunk installation. Then you just tune your amp to how much wattage you want to put out and you start bumping your subs and it will sound so good inside a trunk especially if you get this stuff called DYNOMAT and put it all in the inside of your trunk nothing will rattle and it will sound so much better.

How to Shop for Quality Car Stereo Subwoofers
Car Stereo Subwoofers are important. If you are the kind of person who likes the deep thumping bass for your car stereo, you need speakers that render great bass. These are nothing but the subwoofers, which generally do not come along with the car stereo system. You would have to buy and install them separately.
If you are looking for a basic sub woofer in order to be able to have a lot more bass out of your system, then an amplifier is required. To power a subwoofer, a class D (mono-channel) amplifier is available. The class D (mono-channel) amplifier is designed only for a sub woofer to be powered. Class D amplifiers are more economical. All their power goes into one channel only. Thus, two channels do not have to be bridged together. An amplifier having an RMS power equal to or little less than the RMS of the sub woofer would suffice. RMS is nothing but the power which the unit can continuously handle.
If two woofers are present, then you must ensure that the amp is capable of giving the required power to both. Connecting both of them in a parallel circuit may have to be done to get the best results. If your amplifier's maximum RMS power is equal to or more then the sub woofer's RMS power, there is nothing for you to worry about. If the RMS power of the amplifier is more than that of the sub woofer, care should be taken while blasting music. This is because giving too much power to the woofer may be dangerous as it might blow.
If the amplifier is with more than one channel for your sub woofer, please ensure that it can be bridged. When you bridge two channels, double the power of one channel is obtained. This bridging is resorted to if the one channel does not provide enough power for the woofer alone. Such kind of high power is more expensive and is also not required for a basic sub woofer connection. Other specifications of the woofer and amp like sensitivity or frequency response should also be tried and matched to ensure that both of them can operate to the fullest capacity.
Before you buy subwoofers, you must make sure you know what exactly you are looking for. The kind of music you like and want to listen to determines your choice. If you are looking for greater bass in your music, bigger subwoofers are required. You would have to decide as to where the subwoofers are going to be placed. Subwoofers are generally placed in an enclosure trunk. In using enclosures that are especially for subwoofers, they can be in side panels or under the seats. Where you are going to place it depends on the kind of space you have at your disposal. Smaller cars generally can not afford to give up a lot of space in relation to the quality of the sound. Also, while buying the subwoofers, you must keep your budget in mind.
All these factors play a major role while deciding the kind of subwoofers you are looking for.
Car Stereo Subwoofers are sold online and off.

Is there something i can attach to my stock stereo to hook up a sub and amplifier?
I have an 89 bronco and want to keep it sort of original, so i dont want to buy an aftermarket stereo. Is there something i can use to attach to my stock stereo to hook up an amp and sub?
Lol you sound like a friend of mine.
You can buy a hi/low adapter but you WILL have to splice your rear speakers wires, and you will have to run some sort of wire from the battery to the amp for a remote line to turn it on and off.
Your much better off and it will be so much easier to get a new head unit just Fyi.
