The function of an amplifier's input frequency is known as transfer function and the scale of the output signal against the input is referred to as gain and is measured in decibels. Such terms are best suited to an "electronic" home stereo amplifier. The primary unit of amplifiers is expressed either in current or in voltage.
There are numerous applications that can be used or installed in a home stereo amplifier. For audio systems, amplifiers utilize loudspeakers in order to record human voices louder and more audible. Amplifiers can be labeled and distinguished based on the type of amplification system that is used. A transducer, which is essentially a device that translates a signal to another type, is the tool that is commonly used to further magnify the purpose and advantage of several types of amplification systems. These are also called as sensors or transformers.
There are numerous types of home stereo amplifiers, such as electronic amps that are used in radio and televisions. The power amplifier is an electronically run amplifier and is associated with the total amount of power supplied or loaded. The operational amplifier, or the op-amp, is used with several musical instruments and is a main contributing agent in instigating signal processing.
The most ideal way to select an amplifier is to determine its amount of power. Then, decide on how big its power capacity should be. The next step is to shop at a local store and play an amplifier to check whether it works properly and produces the kind of sound that you are looking for.
For instance, when you are considering buying a guitar amplifier, you should try testing the amp by using it. Try to consume about 15 to 3 watts of total usage. This is enough for you to acknowledge and find out if the amp is working well. The next step is to select the right size of the amp. Normally, amplifiers are classified according to two configurations: Combo and Stacks. Combo amplifiers are a grouping of a speaker and an amplifier. These types of amps are considered portable and compact. Stack amplifiers are used to select which will work better.
They are classified into two types: full and half stacks. Half stacks provide a combination of a speaker cabinet equipped with a head while the full stacks use two cabinets.
The major differences and variations between a half stack and full stack is that the half stack are designed with 4 small speakers within its cabinet. On the other hand, full stacks are composed of 4 speakers and a large speaker in its other cabinet. The large speaker feature is mainly used to record and interpret low frequency sounds or notes.
Another important tip when buying a home stereo amplifier is to check all the features that a certain amplifier could provide you. There are some amplifiers which are equipped with a built-in digital effects feature.

Guidelines For Finding The Perfect Audio Amplifier
If you have spent a good deal of cash on a pair of good-quality speakers, you want to be certain that you get an audio amplifier that will offer superb audio quality while meeting your budget. I will give various tips about audio amplifier products to aid you make the perfect purchasing decision.
Audio amps appear in all different shapes and sizes. They utilize different technologies and have countless technical specs. By following some easy suggestions, you will be able to pick the type that best fits your application and resources.
The most evident criterion is the size of the amplifier. There are models that are as large as half your living room while several of the newest mini amplifier types are as tiny as a bar of soap. Many amplifiers are rack sized. This permits them to be stacked on top of your other audio equipment.
The vast majority of modern audio amps are solid state amplifiers vs more conventional tube amps. Tube amps have been prevalent a decade or so ago. Unfortunately, tube amplifiers have quite large audio distortion which describes how much the audio signal is degraded by the amp.
Harmonic distortion of tube amps is often as large as 10%. Solid-state amplifiers will have lower audio distortion. On the other hand, distortion will depend on the particular audio amplifier technology. In the past, for the most part "Class-A" and "Class-AB" amplifiers were obtainable which are also referred to as "analog amplifiers". Audio amps which are based on these technologies normally have low harmonic distortion. In addition, this technology is fairly economical. However, the disadvantage is that the power efficiency is merely in the order of 20% to 30%. Power efficiency describes how much of the electrical power is utilized to amplify the audio as opposed to being wasted as heat. Amplifiers with low power efficiency will require quite large heat sinks since the majority of the power is radiated.
In contrast, "Class-D" amplifiers which are also referred to as "digital amplifiers" offer a power efficiency of normally 80 to 90%. This allows the amplifier and power supply to be made much smaller than analog amplifiers. The disadvantage is that many digital amplifiers have larger audio distortion than analog amplifiers though a number of of the most recent types employ a feedback mechanism to minimize distortion to levels of 0.05% and below.
The amp should be capable to offer enough output power to sufficiently drive your speakers which will depend not only on how much power your speakers can tolerate but also on the size of your listening environment. Loudspeaker power handling ability is given as peak power and average power. The peak power value refers to how much power the speaker can handle for a short period of time whilst the average power handling value describes how much power you can drive the loudspeaker at continuously without harm.
In a small listening area, you might not need to drive your loudspeakers to their rated value. 20 to 40 Watts of power would probably be plenty. Notice however that loudspeakers differ in their sensitivity. Usually a low-impedance loudspeaker will be simpler to drive to high volume than a high-impedance loudspeaker. Be sure that your amplifier can drive your speaker impedance. You can easily find the rated speaker impedance range in your amplifier's user manual.
Lastly, make sure that your amp introduces little noise and has a broad enough frequency response. High-quality amps will have a signal-to-noise ratio of at the very least 100 dB and a frequency response of a minimum of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

connect a car amp to a cigarette lighter?
Well, it actually isn't a cigarette lighter, it's a regular 12V output source in the trunk of my car, similar to a cigarette lighter. I heard that those things have a 20 Amps fuse, but my amplifier runs on 25 Amps. Also I heard that the connection to a cigarette lighter would be too thin, and that they would heat because of the current. In my last car, connecting to the battery was easy, but now it seems that I'll have a lot of work to guide the wires through the car. It would also be much easier to remove the amp and speaker for a day if I need the trunk space when it's connected to the 12V output.
Thanks to anyone who can help me out here.
try it, just don't drive the amp exceedingly hard.
