I spent some time in an electronics store and my head is still spinning. I just wanted to buy some home speakers not the whole IMAX sound system. I could not get over the costly and extensive systems that are available.

On a whim, I looked on Amazon.com and found the Bose 161 Speaker System.

This let me give a big sigh of relief. This system was more reasonable and better suited for my needs. I enjoy listening to the 1812 Overture but I really don't need to feel every cymbal crash.

I really love my Bose 161 because I can stand anywhere in the room and get the same quality of sound. My old speakers lost quality if I stepped out of the direct path. The Bose Articulated Array and Stereo Everywhere technology prevent this from happening by dispersing sound equally throughout the room.

These speakers are small and compact which is ideal for me. I live in a small space so room is at a premium. The Bose 161 Speaker System fits neatly on a shelf and is barely noticeable.

The Bose 161 lives in my living room with my television. Unlike my old speakers, the system doesn't interfere with the television at all. I just hooked them up together to enhance my movie experience. Okay, I didn't but I have a handy friend. I'm not really into the surround sound phenomenon, but even I was amazed at the enhanced sound the Bose 161 produced.

I have read some reviews that criticized the bass on the Bose 161. Honestly, if I wanted to roll the neighbors out of bed I would have invested in a sub-woofer. The Bose 161 meets all my needs.

I want to enjoy my music and movies. I don't need to hear every nuance or each extra's muttered line. The Bose 161 Speaker System gives me quality and consistency at the best price.

I did the second row of the new Onkyo receiver that showed signs of re-packaged. Fortunately, the second receiver to work, but the experience was poor.

Wow! A true pure audiophile receiver - no frills, great performance and at a great price!

For those looking for true sound without needing all the video processing, this is one great receiver. It gives a tremendous bang for the buck. For those who want to listen to pure audio, this would be a great choice. And, it has a phono input so you can enjoy vinyl again! The controls are simple and straight forward. I found the FM reception to be very good even with the wire antenna. The power supply is very massive and heavy giving the receiver ample current to provide real power to your speakers. All in all, this is a great receiver.

Great Reciever

I am amazed by this reciever. I needed a tape monitor for my old bose 901 
speakers. This fit the bill. Sounds great! Hooked up the FM antenna and was absolutely amazed by the FM reception. Clean and sounds great to my old ears!

A definite improvement over my Sony

My old sony started giving off static at random times. After nearly three months with a sony approved technician trying one new part after another, we both gave up. The Onkyo TX-8255 had really good reviews here, on Amazon, so I figured why not. I am delighted. The sound is much clearer and fuller than my Sony was, even at its best. My only complaint is that you need tiny, tiny fingers to connect the speakers.

Just what I wanted

I needed the A - B speaker options, which helped drive my selection, but I really like how it sounds. Very crisp and clear. There are enough pre-sets for the local radio and the controls are easy to see and use.

Exceptional sound, solid, straight forward, terrific price

Like so many other reviewers, we had a stereo receiver/amp that was 20-plus years old (a JVC) that had finally given up the ghost (the left channel periodically cut out, static-y sound, the LCD display was becoming illegible, etc.). So for our 2009 Christmas present we purchased this Onkyo receiver from Amazon. Hooked it up inside of 15 minutes, put on a Best of Loggins & Messina CD, and let 'er rip. Whoa! Our bookshelf Bose speakers came to life as we hadn't heard them in years. Crisp, clean sound, fabulous bass. We were thrilled. Felt like we had just bought a whole new stereo system. 

What we like about this receiver is, it's unpretentious, with straightforward controls (we like the old-fashioned big knob vol. and bass treble controls), and its heavy duty power amplifier unit (weighs several pounds) that cranks out analog sound that has the warmth of a good LP vinyl recording. True, there's no loudness function but we don't need it. Plus, we found the FM receiver section really pulls in the stations. We're really having fun listening to music again, especially our old LP's. And all this for around $210. Heck of a deal. 
The only temporary glitch we encountered was the remote arrived DOA. Rather than ship the whole receiver back for a swap, we just called up Onkyo parts and ordered a new remote ($14). It arrived in four days, worked great. So, highest recommendation, especially for the price.

Perfect for my needs

My 12 year old Technics Receiver died and I was looking for a replacement. I use a simple 2-speaker setup so I did not need surround sound. All I wanted was a Receiver that delivered superior sound to my 32" television - and of course a radio and CD..., and I didn't want to spend a fortune. I checked the reviews on Amazon for various receivers and found this highly rated model in the price range I wanted for the features I needed. I ordered it with free Shipping from Amazon on Thursday and it arrived 2 days later, Saturday. Set up was simple, sound is crisp and clear - much clearer than my television and this is important since my hearing is not great so increasing the volume on my TV is not a perfect solution. The only slight nit is there the bass is not that deep but for the money it is exactly what I needed. It includes remote, batteries, AM and FM antenna and all the input jacks I will ever need and more - including Phono. If you do not plan to pump out ultra loud music and don't need surround sound this is a great deal and a quality product that will not disappoint.

Will any '94 c280 Bose amplifier fit on my '94 c280?

I have a 94 c280 and my MB mechanic told me I need to replace the amplifier, the dealer charges so much and I found a good one online but I can't get the info of the amp I have to match it with the one I found online, however, they do look exactly the same and the one I found online is for the same car model and year. Should I go ahead and purchase it? or what can I do since I can't find the info for the amp I have?

If the amp is from '94, that means its probably 14 years old.
just get a new amplifier to match your system.
If its from '94, I'm sure its bigger than todays models, and seeing how you drive a benz, you can fit a decent size one.
but what is the amp for? subwoofers? speakers? coaxial?
