Are Big Car Speakers Better?

If you are planning to purchase car speakers, there are things you need to know in order to make the best choice. A clear mind and a basic plan of what you intend to buy are crucial when shopping for car speakers. Big car speakers do not always mean better speakers.

Purchasing speakers for your car can end up being more costly than necessary if you buy speakers that have numerous features you won't use. Keep in mind that top quality audio speakers cost more than some other brands, but are generally worth the investment. If big car speakers are your preference, make sure you buy a dependable brand name and make certain the speakers will provide you with crystal clear sound.

There are two basic kinds of car stereo speakers: component speakers and full range speakers. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Full range car stereo speakers generally consist of a tweeter, a woofer, and some may be equipped with a midrange or supertweeter. If you want to replace your factory speakers with minimal trouble, full range speakers are your best choice. Full range speakers come in varying sizes and price ranges.

If big car speakers are your preference, you can find full range speakers in almost any size. Component speakers give you the best possible sound quality through their superior design. The typical components include tweeters, separate woofers, and external crossovers. Each of these components is designed to compliment the others. Big car speakers can be part of a component system if you make sure you have all the necessary components.

For those who are serious about their car stereo speakers, a component system will be the best choice. Your sound system will have greater depth and sound more realistic. You can include big car speakers in a component system. Detailed sound and exceptional dynamics are the result of higher quality materials than are normally found in full range speakers.

The question of which are better - small or big car speakers is not a simple one. Big car speakers may be your preference but that will not ensure you of the getting the best sound. Car stereo speakers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Determining the type of car audio system you want is much more important than the size of speakers you purchase.

Enjoy!

Speaker Installation

Speaker installation does not have to be a pain or an inconvenience. It is something that can be done by anyone so it is not essential that you pay to have a professional do it for you. Most speakers are relatively easy to install. They also often come with instructions to guide you along the way. Most people decide that they do not wish to keep the factory installed speakers that came with their car. Upgrading does not have to be a hassle or chore. In fact, it should be fun because your music is about to undergo an amazing change in sound.

Start by going through the instructions that came with the speakers. They should be outlined in a diagram so that you can visually see each component. Start by carefully removing the old speakers. Be careful when you use the door panel popper to take out the door speakers. Everything should be done with careful precision so that you do not damage anything. Remove the old door speaker. Make sure to pay attention when you unhook the wires so that you know how to hook them back up again later. For the most part, you put the new ones in exactly the same way that you took the old ones out.

You need to make sure that you have all of the necessary tools required to do the job correctly. Make sure that you have everything before you get started. You do not want to get halfway through and then realize that you need to stop and find a certain screwdriver. If you have speakers that are the right size and shape, you may have a really easy time. If not though then there is a chance you will have to do some cutting. Make sure you have a good exacto knife for this job and always be careful.

Dealing with dash speakers may prove to be more difficult than door and back speakers. There is a lot going on in the dash. All of the electrical components for your car are located there. You may want to consult your car's owner manual in case there are any details or caution warnings that you should be aware of. Take care not to tamper with any wires that are not directly related to your speaker system. It is best not to use tape of any kind, even electrical. It will wear down due to the heat and electricity running through the dash and you will end up losing the connection completely.

Some speakers will require vast moderation of your car in order to fit properly. This is something that some people may not be comfortable with. Do not hesitate to ask a friend that you trust for assistance. If worse comes to worse, speak with a professional who may be able to give you some pointers. Speakers can make all the difference in the sound experience of your car. But first, you need to install them correctly. Take your time and work in steps. Your speakers will be finished in no time.

Jeep Wrangler Audio Upgrade?

I'm thinking about purchasing Polk db461 4" x 6" Coaxial Speaker for the dash of my 2001 Jeep Wrangler and Polk db651 6.5" Coaxial Speaker. Does this sound like a good idea? Would I need to run an amp?? I'd love to put a sub in but I'm to concerned with theft.
Are the speakers a good choice.
What if I already have a JL 1200 e amp?

I like Polk speakers a lot. The db line is a good product. An amp will definitely help, and if you get a small one it will fit under your driver's seat without being noticable.

And yes you CAN get a sub. I built a small box, something like 9" wide x 9" long x 11" tall that goes behind the center console. The 8" sub is mounted on the 9x9 side firing downward. I built a small lip on the bottom next to the sub to keep the sub lifted off the ground. It is held in place by the seats. Hard to explain, but if you were serious I could email you a few pictures of what I mean. I carpeted it to match and never had anyone do anything, and I didn't live in the best neighborhood. It blended right in. When I wanted to fold the rear seat forward, I just popped it out. Qlogic also makes a box that will mount to your tailgate and blend right in. I think I've seen them for $169 for the box, but it would be worth it. It is made of ABS plastic so it will be waterproof, and it even protects the sub from rain should you leave your top down. Go to the Qlogic website and just put in jeep wrangler. If you are going to amp your soundbar speakers, I wouldn't waste my money on the 4x6s up front. You won't be able to hear them much, and certainly not enough to justify the price. Good luck and email me if you want to see pics of my sub.
