I just installed a Kenwood KDC-138 Car Stereo in my 96 Dodge Stratus... only tweeters are working and have....?

gone over everything 5 times and checked it all out. Can someone please tell me what I may be doing wrong. The speakers are OEM. Please help!!!!!!
I do have 6 speakers and the wires only call for 4. Tweeters in front and mid-range and rear in the trunk... 2 of each. The wiring only called for 4. Could this be a problem. Also, I bought a wiring harness kit and hooked it all up and realized I didnt need it as the unit came with a harness. I hooked it up straight to the vehicle's original wiring (checked many times). Is this correct? Or should I have used the kit somehow?

I have known from previous experience that my father used to have a dodge motor from around the same time (i think it was 93/94) and some cd players just are not compatible, especially the newer make (kenwood/panasonic etc) some features will work but the main ones wont try changing cd player to a more basic one and maybe an older one just to see if that works, if not, then there must be an internal fault with the wiring from the audio cables to the speakers and in the microchips sending all of the relevant information!
