My new car audio problem
I had a 10" Kicker L7 and a Kicker ZX750.1 in my 350Z Knowing the ZX was too much power for that one sub, I decided to upgrade. I found a box that holds 2 12" that fits in my car and takes up less trunk space. so i got 2 Kicker CVR 4ohm 12" and hooked them to the ZX750. The speakers seem like they bottom out on nearly every note and they barley hit harder than the one 10. Was this a bad match for this amp being that they are 4ohm DVC's. The box is sealed 1cubic ft per chamber thats the minimum for a sealed enclosure for this sub any advise
It almost sounds like you have a 1 ohm load on a 2 ohm amp. 4 ohm DVC subwoofers can be wired up at either 2 ohms or 8 ohms. 2 ohm DVC subwoofers can be wired up at 1 ohm or 4 ohms. If the dual 4 ohm subs you have now are wired in parrallell, that makes each sub 2 ohms, then when you wire the 2 subs together for a mono set-up, you get either a 1 ohm load at the amp or a 4 ohm load at the amp. Does the amp overheat and go to protect? Wrong subs for that amp you need dual 2 ohms.
The box may be a little small also for the amount of power you are applying to these subs.
